The way we shop is changing: The Real Junk Food Project

The way that we shop has never been so diverse. We are not loyal to just one supermarket. We are keen to shop around for deals more so than ever before and we are more concerned about our health.

'The shift to healthier eating has already changed grocery retail. There is more emphasis on fresh foods, prepared foods, organics and those considered "free from" artificial flavors or ingredients. This move to cleaner eating has migrated from certain geographic and demographic pockets and taken off throughout America.'

This is where the Real Junk Food Project comes in, a revolutionary concept highlighting the problems of food waste where a PAYF cafe has been created using produce that otherwise would be thrown away. This idea is opening the minds to people who would previously religiously stick to best before dates, letting the big retailers persuade their shopping habits encouraging them to spend more. However, the Leeds based creator takes food from restaurants, food banks etc. and showing people a new light in what should be fit for consumption.

As people are becoming increasingly more aware of the food they are consuming and what that means for the planet it beggars the question, if a gluten free diet is a craze then is that such a bad thing? With people caring more about where their food came from and ethical sourced channels supporting local farmers and fresh produce, is there an room for processed gluten products in anyone's diet? Not just those with gluten intolerances?
